Aldea Yanapay is a non-profit school ran by volunteers in Cusco, Peru. It was created in 2004 by Yuri Valencia with the goal to change the educational system by offering classes such as music, dance, art and homework tutoring. Living Lucid spent a 1/2 month teaching music classes and hosting a project where the kids would create their own album art through a listening and painting activity. It was our goal with Aldea Yanapay to teach children how to connect their emotions with art. Donations were utilized towards paints and canvases for the album art project as well as other materials for future art projects, the purchase of 13 new instruments for future music classes and fresh paint for the classroom. The remainder of the donations were designated toward sound therapy instruments for another branch of the Aldea Yanapay foundation to help with mental health for children coming from troubled homes.
